what causes a cucumber to shivel up on the vine

some shivel up but some continue to grow and ripen

next year you have to amend your soil for them....mulch, grass, leaves, lime, old horse manure, hay or straw...........and use a cultivator and mix it in...........once you plant your seeds you have to keep them damp.....when the start growing.......have to be kept watered every day...............it it rains....don't water that day.........but the take a lot of water to keep them hydrated..............if you have chickens.......they will eat them...
