I'm new to gardening (accept when I helped my Father 30 years ago). After I planted my red rads in mid summer, my neighbor said they would'nt be successful because rads need colder weather. Well, I've been eating them for the last week, and they're really good. (I don't want to tell my neighbor BTW)

Mine don't get alot of sun (by accident, they're shaded often by house and a tree). Are they successful because they get less sun? Is it because of the different seeds that we each purchased?

I really love radishes, and next year I'd love to do many more different varieties.

We live in the U.P. of Michigan, which has a short growing season. Also, I did use "Miracle Grow Potting Soil" when planting all of my vegies in the garden.

ph for radishes is 6.0-8.0.  They do well in the shade for you....we plant them in the spring, if you have window sills in your basement, you might be able to grow them in the basement..............or you could make a little greenhouse with sides built up with cement blocks & cover it with heavy duty glassin your garden.....you also can do that with parsley and other herbs that you like.
