I recently did a landscaping job removing a large Bird of Paradise from the sheltered corner of a customers house. Right in the corner was a staghorn fern. It stood as if it were tyed on board hanging on the wall. The round leaves (green) are growing out of the brown round leaves. The brown round leaves have many layers and are curled into a tube. I don't see any materials in the center that the plant would have been attached to. Out of the bottom of the tube, roots are growning and spreading out paralell to the ground. It had bright, diffused light and was watered regularly from the irrigation system.
I didn't inspect the plant until i got it home. There are brown patches (1-8" long, 1-3") only on two leaves. Should I remove these? Will they make the rest of the plant sick?
How do I replant this ? In the ground? In a wire basket? Tie it to a board somehow?
I am totally ignorant about this plant! H E L P !!!!
