While in Houston years ago a friend had this plant growing on her back yard fence. She said it was called Gagootza. It was a vineing plant with long thin squash type vegetables on it. They were green and looked similar to zucchini but longer. She cooked them by slicing them, flour, salt & pepper then fried them. They were a mild in flavor, tasting like eggplant cooked the same way. She also told me she would leave the old ones on the vine to dry then would peel the skin off and the insides were then similar to loofas and she would add them to gift baskets. Please tell me I'm not crazy!
