This is the real recipe............you could use green cabbage
I med swamp cabbage, 2 large chopped onons, 1 cup of Virginia smoked ham chunks
1 teasp brown sugar, 2 cans tomatoes, 1 hot pepper chopped up small and 1 pinch of thyme and a little pepper
Saute the ham in a little fatback or butter add chopped cabbage until it starts to lightly brown, add tomatoes sugar, pepper & thyme. Add another pinch of thyme 10 minutes before it's done. Serve it on rice.
