The berries taste like blueberries but are much seedier. Unripe berries are red. Leaves of the tallish bush look similar to those on a wild blueberry bush but a little larger. They are eye-shaped ovals, green in colour. The bush has tall woody stalks.
The bushes were found in the Georgian Bay area of Ontario on a small island. They were growing at waters edge and continuing about six or seven feet toward the centre of the island.
