How do I identify small black turds that show up in my garden that has been eaten up?

Something has eaten my garden all the vegetables, pumpkins and has left a few droppings while doing it.  they are small black turds and they are in a pile.  I would like to know what is doing this.

if they look like cocoa puffs round balls its rabbits

If there all in a pile it could also be deer...........with the babies.  they don't like irish spring soap......cut them in 1/2........use plastic covered wire and go around it and make it look like an ornament..............hang it around the garden 4 ft high...........if it is rabbits.............you can use blood meal around the edges of your garden and the rabbits will not cross it...............deer usually come in groups..........you also could do one of those motions lights and they have another sensor that will go on your hose and it chases them.
