The red maple is a young tree about 3-4 inch diameter trunk. The leaves at the top of the tree are yellow and some are black. The lower leaves are dark green. My neighbors have similar trees except their trees have dark green leaves and they don't water as often as I do. My area experienced a severe drought last year but I watered my trees during that time with a slow drip from a hose at lease once a week in the fall and winter months. We had a rainy spring and now the summer is beginning to get dry again. I water 3 times a week with sprinklers, so I am wondering if the tree is getting enough moisture. Does my tree have a fungus or other problem, or do I just need to water more?
