So, one and a half (1.5) pounds of purple hull peas is roughly 3080 seeds.
Purple Hull Peas require at minimum 2.5" of space between each plant.. You have 960 Feet of row space, which is 11,520 inches of planting space. If you were to plant each seed at 3" from the next seed, times two pair side by side (for max. usage of space]. You would require 3,850+ seeds (multiplied by 2, would be 7700 seeds). thus if 1 1/2 pounds of seeds equal roughly 3080 seeds, then you would need around 3.5 pounds of seeds to complete your planting row. 3080 * 2 =6160, and you need 7700 seeds, you would be short 1540 seeds plus the added fudge factor (defective seeds, etc.), then it would be wise to have 4 lbs of seeds for your project. -Birdy
