I have a tree dropping all of it's leaves while they are still green.

Question

I have a very large tree in my front yard that is dropping all of it's leaves. I'm not sure what kind of tree it is but the leaves have six points shaped kind of like a Maple. The leaves are still green and dropping like it's Fall. I live in Texas and it's very, very dry but I do water the tree because I have plants under it. I have been letting the hose drip on it for hours at a time to see if that would help but the leaves are still falling. My husband did trim a few branches off that tree in the early Spring.

It sounds like a maple...........water it at night time..........lots of people had trouble with leaves dropping.......the tree will do that when it's not getting enough water.  Did it return this year?
