what is a wild plum tree

I have 3 plum tree on my property in middle GA the plums are small in range in color to red to dark purple . some people call them wild plums what does this mean . I don't know if they are small because they need nourishment or they are post to be that way. they are bery sweet and good to eat. Im new to the property and want to do the tree right

I would test the soil for ph...needs 6.0-8.0..............it should be sprayed with dormant oil fall and spring up to the bud............when the bud opens I do not spray because the spray can kill the bees..........we need the bees to take care of the rest...........there are red plum trees that are domestic...............when you see baby plums you need to leave 10 inches between plums to make the rest grow bigger.  Lime sweetens the ground.
