how do you kill english ivy and get rid of the roots

outside,on fence,kill all the english ivy removed the roots permanent.

I would check out Walmart, or Lowe's or Home Depot................One lady said that she weedwacked.....and then raked everything up and trashed it.....then you might kill the roots.  That plant will take a fence down or ruin cement between bricks if it is left to grow...........

The only real way to get rid of English Ivy Plants in your yard. You have to dig them completely out or then are going to grow back. I had my for years [15 years on fence] and it really looked nice during the summer months, then the Japanese beetle came for 3 year and destroyed them. I cut them all back every year and even went 5 inches down in the ground. So finely I just dogged them out.
