when is the best time to prune Star Magnolis

We are needing to cut some low limbs off our star magnolia and want to know the best time to do this without harming the tree,

I would go ahead and prune it at this time.

thank you for your input.  It is getting alittle overgrown with small linbs coming out alittle low for mowing.  We love the tree very much.  We have two different types of magnolia trees that my husband let turn into bushes wiyh limbs that are turning down towards the ground.  Do you think it would be ok to trim them also?  Again, thank you for your help.  Have a great day.

You cn prune any of them at this time If your limbs on the star magnolia are a little low cut the lowest ones off at the main trunk this will just cause theplant to be a little more tree like . The others can be pruned the same way if you want just look at the plant and decide how you want it to appear before you start cutting then cut a litle at a time untilyou get the results you are looking for. -George
