I am looking for a red fall foliage maple, dense shade, longest lasting foliage, and least invasive root system. I planted a mystery maple 30 years ago in the backyard and the roots extend at least 40 feet to opposite/caddy corner AROUND the house. It has withstood EF 5, EF 1, 3 ice storms and many high winds. I live in Moore. The Bradford pears bit the dust 3 times and have lost my fruitless Mulberry to disease. I loved the way my Bradfords were the first to bloom and the last to loose their leaves. However, I have 5 ft tree trunks now and no shade on the front/west side of house. I need shade. I have shade grass planted that will die now but can be replaced. The shade on the house is more important than the type of grass under the tree.
