soil and fertilizer needs for delphiniums?

They are so beauiful omg.... and demanding. They love manure worked in to average soil but amending soil should be done the fall prior to planting. Compost HEAVILY and plant in a sunny spot with stake poles in early to sustain the wind and rain.

Don't forget to water mornings. Keep soil mulched or moist with hose

Feed with liquid fertilizer ie 20-20-20 twice during the growing season and deadhead as so to bring on shorter but still nice blooms later.

One more thing. They must be regularly divided to maintain vigor. Every  other spring with growth showing only, dig up and split. Give space and a good companion like the bright red Campion: Maltese Cross. Hope this helps They're fussy
