Fall to late fall is the time to just dig them up and transplant right away........no need to let them dry out. Spring planting is done in fall when the bulb goes dormant......in the colder weather they will devide and seperate. Give them room to grow. Good luck with your bulb garden. Putting some bone meal in before planting them will help them next spring. Because we have a squirrel problem here, we used some any color pepper or hot flakes in the mix on top of them......the critters left them alone.
