We are HAVING to move, and have a 40-some-foot, old, Holly tree that it is breaking my heart to leave behind!  I would really appreciate your advice on the best and safest way to transplant several "babies" to our new yard!   We also have several peony bushes that are very old!  What advice can you give us on moving them safely?  Currently, they are blooming beautifully; but the last 2 years, some sort of blight hit them, and they never made it past the first buds!  It was heart-breaking!broken heart  Thank you SO much for your advice!smiley  Sandi B.

Here is a good article on propagating holly trees that might be of help.  It gives some good details instructions on transplanting cutting.

I've moved my peonies with me three times with good success.  Keep roots cool and covered.  make sure when you replant them they are at the exact same depth they were whene you dug the out.  If you can wait until they are done flowering that would be better.  Cut them down to about four to six inches to make them easier to handle. Good luck
