If you love this honeysuckle, trim gently. Remove only as much as you must to let it stay healthy and natural. But keep it in control. Time of year won't hurt this one.
If you hate this thing. Take a machete and start hacking. Cut it off and burn it, chop it up in tiny pieces and dispose of it in plastic bags to land fills you don't like. It will grow from a leaflet, a bud, a root that has a hair left on it.
While it smells wonderful, soaps have been named after this flower, it is a VERY proliffic grower. Good luck.
