My 2 yr. old PINK peonies bloomed WHITE this year....WHY????

For 2 years, I have had Pink Peonies bloom in my flower beds - along with white and dark red.  This year the pink bush started out with Pink buds only to open to solid white.  What can I do the get the Pink color back ???

Were they transplanted?  Were the roots disturbed in any way.....maybe an animal digging................did you have a very cold winter or a mild winter.......they like and want a cold winter and in full sun..................we just let them die down and then before it snow 1 shovel of old horse or cow manure and the snow takes it down to the roots.  One website says that they will change color from pink, purple white or red.  Good luck in the spring.....when they will bloom again.

look at the hydranga tips --the colors of some H. macrophylla  flowers are affected by the relative availability of aluminum ions in the soil. Acidic soils with a pH of less than 5.5 produce blue flowers; soils with a pH greater than 5.5 product pink flowers. White flowers are not affected by pH. http://www.almanac.com/plant/hydrangea
