Have a bed of Hypericum calycinum. Within the bed there are random vertical stocks of what looks like a larger version of the leafy plant stems. In the past I have pulled these out. However, I am wondering if these tall vertical stems are in fact part of the plant and may be necessary for maximum blooming as since I have been pulling them out my St. John's Wort, though robust, does not bloom. Are these stems part of the plant and should I remove them or not?
