When I grew my pineapple from a top, I made sure that the soil I mixed up was like what the pineapple would find in a good garden in Hawaii. There were ashed, compost, good dirt, manure and then some sand. All the nutrients in all this made for one nice pineapple. It wasn't as big as one from the store, but it eventually turned a nice shade of yellow green and smelled like a pineapple. I picked it. It was better than from the store as it was from my own hands. Fertilizer will help. You can put the plant in a bigger pot and mix up this type of soil mix. Either way, good luck.
