I have grown Hibiscus from seed, harvested the year before by a freind..
I started the seeds indoors in potting soil. When they were large enough I planted them in the flower beds. They didn't grow much the first year, but they did bloom.
They died back in the fall. In the spring, I cut the dear stalks to the ground. The roots sprung up new shoots. They start to bloom about July 1. the second year the plants were more sturdy and had more blooms.
The blooms are not for cutting and put in a vase. They only last abount a day and then fade and go to seed.but new buds open every day.
