I have planted 150' of bush green beans. I pick them every 3-5 days. When I pick them, I clean and snap ends, and cut into 2 " pieces (app.) By the time I get them into the quart canning jars, there is only enough to fill 2 or 3 jars. My pressure canner holds 7 quarts. It is the same time whether I do a full canner or just partial, so in doing just a few jars I am wasting time, propane and heating up my house.
How can I save the beans from the 1st picking (and 2nd or 3rd), until I have enough beans to fill a canner. Do I need to plant a bigger bean patch so I can harvest more at once? But then, I won't need the subsequent harvests from my beans.
I tried putting them in the refrigerator coverd in a casserole, and they got moldy on me. What can I do?
