my first pumpkins are large and green others orange do i pick the green and leave the orange

I have a large pumpkin plant which has green (large) pumpinks on it, and now orange ones, are the green ones ok or do I pick them,

When they start to grow, they are green, when they ripen they are a bright orange.  I think that it is too soon to take them.  If you are going to use them as October decorations,  they have to have a 6 inch to 12 inch stem and lift them from the bottom, not the stem.  If you decide to cut them put them in a shaded area like a fruit cellar or basement where it is cooler.  This is the 3rd week of August.  You did not say what state you are growing them in.  I would wipe them with a weak solution of bleach with tap water and dry them before storing them.
