I live on the Central Coast of California and have about four hummingbirds that frequent my feeder which I setup about a month ago. They chase each other and chirp back and forth as they zoom right past my head. I so enjoy sitting outside at various times of day and watch them. I'm wanting to make my yard bird friendly esp more hummingbird friendly how shiukd I go about this? More feeders, how many is too much? My actual yard is about 1,000 swift however I live in the countryside surrounded by vineyards so it's very open with lots of birds big and small. Right now there's a hawk cawwing off in the distance. I have owls at night often right outside my door. I gave a bat too that I escorted out of my house one night..... Freaky!! It's my very own sentry as it is hanging right outside my door about 20 inches up to the right... I just read an article on landscaping so I'll be stopping at the nursery today and get a few of the suggested plants for containers I have.
Since I have your attention just one more question, there's also another bird that I've seen in my yard it's bright yellow and black. When I see this bird it's generally with a companion. What kind us it and what kinda seed would use to attract them? Thanks for your info
