We did have a couple severe freezes and the tree has been in steady decline for about two years. parts of the tree seemed to have frozen so we trimmed off the dead branches and did get some new growth but again a freeze and more dead branches and those were trimmed off and then no new growth and I have cut it back to 4 main branches. I dont want to give up on the tree if theres still hope, at what point do I determine not? the tree was mature when we purchased our home about 10 years ago. also, same part of the yard a mimosa tree seems to be dying as well. we have backwashed the poll in that area for a long time, did we kill them by over watering?
