It is a very large schefflera about 3 months out of the nursery at Home Depot. I always seem to get sick plants there. I don't over-water, I let it dry out between watering.
It is in a window with filtered shaded west light. The leaves get grey areas on them then fall off. There is mold on the top of the soil. I carefully dug this up and removed this, but some of the spores lit on another plant and now IT has white mold. (I live in Florida, and even with air conditioning it is probably pretty humid in my apartment).
How can I treat the plant to kill the mold? What can I do to the mold on the soil surface? If all else fails, I can get my money back, and the plant has already lost its' beautiful fullness because of this scourge. But it would be nice to see it get better.
