you can trim the roses now......take out dead all the way down, trim them back to promote better growth, take away cutting, mulch & spray.........ph should be 6.0-8.0 use sharpe shears clean them first with alcohol and after finishing last cut......rake & mulch...........spray with bayer rose spray, you did not mention how big this bush is take about 1/3 off.
barbarry will have to wait for after red berries are off.........clean clippers use heavy gloves long sleeves, rake up mulch lighly leave room for the stem to breathe..........
holly is another evergreen, sharpe leaves, heavy gloves trim winter until early spring....it will grow 2 to 40 ft.........any broken or damaged branches cut right away.....only trim 1/3 of the bush at a time. If you trim it every year you will keep it in control. It will be cold weather when you do this so just be careful of not getting cut........a couple lined heavy duty boxes will be needed if it is very large.....trimming & putting in a box or can saves time & energy.
