what diseases do rhododendron get and how to cure them,please help

Our 4 year old Rhododendrons (3) have gotten some disease..they were healthy when

we covered them as usual last fall to withstand the snow, and now, here it is May, and the leaves are all falling off and they are bare, and have no flowers or buds.

If we take them out and put in new rhodos in the same place, will they survive?

we live in upstate NY and buy the plants here for the area. They have always doen well,don;t understand.

ph should be 5.0 to 6.0.   we live in NE PA and we had a lot of snow last year.  I would ask the place where you got them.  Our does not look great this year.  We are feeding it old coffee grinds around the drip line.  If you do decide to replace them amend the soil.  They lasted well for you for 4 years.........it has to be too much snow caused the problem.  I know we had more than 4 ft to 5 ft with the blowing snow here.  Too high to dig thru to get the snow off them.  Is there anyway to leave them there and put new ones in a different spot.........and when other plants like that flower and the flower dies off...............trim those plants, give them a feeding and see what happens.
