new leaves on my plant are yellow

I'm not sure what my plant is but when I bought it it was about 1 1/2 feet tall with thick foliage and somewhat thick stalks,  However, since I purchased it it has steadily failed.  new growth comes out yellow and then turns brown - I've moved it from a 70% sunny spot to a 90% sunny spot and its only gotten worse.  I keep it out on the patio and water when soil starts to dry,  I just cut it down and want to see what happens before it goes to plant heaven.

Your plant may be one that likes the roots to dry completely between watering. Overwatering can yellow and rot leaves. It may also have root rot, in which case nothing will save it.
