I had some last year that died in the pot. I would like the ones I have this year to be transplanted in the yard and hopefully multiply.  Should I allow them to go dormant or continue to care for them in the pot, clip them down or allow them to dry out?

you can transplant them now but leave the greenery- it will help nourish the bulbs for next years growth- if you have plants like perrenials that bloom later in the season you can plant them by itll help because they arent much to look at after blooming- the other plants will help cover up the ugliness! hope this helps  =)

I replant them as soon as the bloom dies off....I leave it there as when you plant it in the prepared area....add some bone meal....use gloves & mask.......and when you do the cover of good dirt....mix some pepper in it to keep the squirrells from digging them up.  When the tops are left on the sun helps the roots thru the tops and I just leave the tops die off and that also fertilizes the bulbs.....in the fall you can throw some lime over it.......I always have some leaves around and I cover the new ones with grass and leaves.
