I recently moved to Florida from New York, now I have always grown eggplant in NY and they have ALWAYS been purple. So I thought I would garden here as well. From the picture on the package I thought I planted purple eggplant seeds. The plants are growing nicely. I get the purple flowers, then the eggplant starts to grow. It starts out that deep purple color then it kinda washes out and gets a little streaked with whitish yellow. Then they turn yellow. They are firm so I know they are not rotten and they seem to be growing very slow. Am I doing something wrong? This is the first time this has happened to me. Maybe it's a Florida thing... I have them in Miracle grow planting soil in garden boxes because the soil here is mostly sand. They don't taste bad maybe a little bitter I guess it's just got me baffled. Why are they turning yellow?
