How to prune outdoor poinsetta?

I have 2 huge poinsettia is my yard. I remember my grandma saying you have to prune at a certian time of year so they are red at Christmas. So how much can I prune them back and at what time of the year.  The poinsettia plants is about 15 to 20 ft. tall.

Wow Kathy, that is great to have a poinsettia that tall!  I have only read about them being heirloom plants, yet to see one, you must send a pic when you have a moment.

Kathy you probably want to cut to the maximum recommended which is 4 to 5 inches from the tip of the branch.  I'm not sure if you have done this yet but you will have to control the growth of the branches. As poinsettias get older their branches seem to go haywire.
