Evergreen, Low allergy tree , producing shade for a single story Santa Barbara home , planting it ~ 12 ft from the front of the house, that will not lift up the driveway as it grows

Don't make any quick decisions on this as it depends on the morning light in front of your house.  You don't want to plant something that later you have to cut down.  This site also has a lot of information around it.  After reading this, I would copy a list and visit a local nursery.  If you choose dogwood, that is a very soft wood and you have to be very careful when you cut the grass.  You have to consider the root system and your wall of your home, any walls or driveways. fruit trees might be your answer,the shorter variety.  You should wear a mask when working ouside.  Take time with this decision.  There is  a list of trees to avoid
