Why are the buds on my Gardenia plant falling off? This is an inside plant growing under window

Gardenia  buds falling off, some turn brown, under window with lots of light during day

This is an indoor plant

might have bugs in the dirt...............you can take it outside..........5 gallon bucket mix up 1 teasp liquid hand soap & 1 qt water time how much you need to have the water over the plant..............soak the whole plant in this mix and wait until the bubbles stop and then take it out and let it drip off...................check where ever you keep it and see if any pepper like dots are there.....

I also think that you should go to the next sized pot with new vitamin soil for inside and put some pebbles inside the bottom and ph should be 6.0-8.0

It is likely that your house is too dry and warm.  Gardenias need cool temperatures (low 60s or even 50s) to properlyset buds. Winter heatinging also makes air too dry for many plants - you might try a pebble tray under it that with water that doesn't touch the pot to add humidity.
