Let them totally dry out before doing anything. Plant in a container later and then put them outside after the danger of frost has past...........they should be 3 ft before planting. It is going to take 3 years for that to happen. When you do plant them they need to be 15 to 20 ft apart for air light and ventilation and stagger the end row, they need a fence around them and a support fence around them or animals will gnaw on them or chew off the leaves.
