The cabbage looks great on the outside but when we cut into it it has brown or black around the top part of the center of the head of the cabage. Not all of the cabbages are this way but 80 percent is. The only thing that I can see that might cause this is the moisture that gathers around the headding portion after it starts to form heads. This in turn might rot or turn brown to black. I can not figure out what causes this. I grown about 1,000 every year and can only use about 1/2 the cabbage. Most of the Koreans do not know how to stop this either.
I have plenty of Nitrogen, Phospate and postash. so what gives. The ph is about 7.5 to 8. Flood irrigation twice a week good drainage the first part of growing then to 1 time a week. Plant in July to Aug 1 pick Oct in to November. I could use some help on this Not a bug. I grow several different kinds and it all does the same thing.
