I was recently in Ocean Springs, MS and was given the "fruit" from a kind of split leaf vine which they called a 'Monkey Nut Plant'. Actually I can't remember if it was split leaf but I think it was the leaves were fairly large probably the size of or a little smaller than a woman's hand it was growing up and twisting around the 4x4 poles of a patio canopy. The "fruit" is brown and looks more like a nut. The ones I got were about 2 inches in diameter and are a brown color with a smooth opposed to furry or hairy surface. But it is not smooth in that it looks a little like the Ferrero Rocher candy like there are chopped up hazelnuts below the surface....
