The plant roots are over 30 yrs old, and foliage has been cut back several times. . . It has been in its current pot >10 yrs, (12" ID x 9" deep soil, with a water reservoir below). I've added new soil on top every so often. Now several of the branches are leafless from the soil to end leaves, about 18" or more away. Outdoors in the summertime, it has sprouted new growth near the soil, on older branches. I'd like to prune it back to branches that are about 16-24 inches long. For whatever reason, the branches have not been strong enough to support leaf growth more than ~ 16" high.
-If I wanted to propagate those branches, what's best?
What might be a better method of pruning and adding more soil w/o increasing the size/ weight/ of the pot?
