How to tell a ripe comus pear and when to pick.

I have a tree full of beautiful Comus pears and I want to know when to pick them. What qualities should I look for to identify a ripe pear.

A comice pear is usually ready after September.  They are more rounded than the other pears.  pronounced co-meece.

They are green on the tree and turn yellow when ripe.  The original variety came from France and new red tones were developed since.  They were only available on the market in the winter months but available more months of the year now.  Happy summer.  They are very sweet and make great jam, cook well in pie and great to eat fresh.
