When should I begin to prune it and when will it begin to bare fruit?

Drawf apple - It did not grow much this summer but it is a baby and I jsut palnted it in late May (in Virginia).  When do i prune it, how often and when will it start to produe apples?  I have the same questions with a prune tree...baby tree planed this spring...when can i pruyne it, how often and when will it produce fruit?

You will need to gently prune your apple and plum tree in the spring right after the last snow.  Use dorment oil this fall and again in the spring  read & follow the directions for usage on fruit trees.  We follow the spraying up to the bud...after the bud we only spray the trunks, because of the bees.  They polunate your garden.  Wear long old clothes, mask, hat, gloves and goggles.  Keep children & pets away until this is dry.  Don't spray if it is going to rain and don't spray if it is windy.  Mix up only enough spray that you need, please do not put this down the drain or septic system.  I like the dwarf trees because they are easier to maintain and don't grow out like the bigger fruit trees.
