I have a maple tree with brown egg like things on the leaves.  Last year when we moved to this property  this tree was almost 90% covered on the leaves with these things and now they are back. What can I use to get rid of them?

You need to get a product like Malathion plus by Ortho. Check with your local lawn & garden center. They can get you specific help.  But you need to spray it with a suitable bug spray before it does damage.  Spray only on days with no wind and no rain in 24 hr forcast.

It's some kind of a gall caused by an insect.  Malathion or a systemic like Imidacloprid (Merit by Bayer) may help but you need a more specific diagnosis from an arborist, nurseryman or your university extension center.

If you can take a clear, detailed photo, email it to one of these people (http://www.ct.gov/caes/cwp/view.asp?a=2812&q=345280) to ask for advice on controlling the problem.

Sounds like caterpiller egg infestation.  Sevin for now but read the lable for amount and water content..............keep children & pets away from this until it is dry if you do this when the sun passes it will dry during the night...spray only when no wind ...........wear old long clothes, hat, mask, goggles and gloves..................in the fall use dormant oil according to directions and also dormant oil in the spring read the label carefully and the same rules apply for equipment.
