what will happen to a sago palm if you cut it in half? Will it die or come back?

I have a large sago in a small spot and need to either cut it way back or move it.  What will happen if I cut in with a chain saw 10 inches above ground?

I read up on that, you can NOT cut it in half, it will not survive............you can put it into a larger pot or in the ground if it does not freeze in the winter.  You have to wait until it has a pup and then carefully take that off.
