We live in northern Ca. between Mt Shasta and Mt Lassen at the 3200 ft elevation, we have a plum tree that has more than the normal amout of leaf curl, it always has had some but this year it's bad. I've examined  a handful of the tightly curled leaves and found areas inside that were discolored brown but not in all leaves. In the handfull of leaves I looked at there were 6 or 8 insects ranging in size from tiny (size of a small nat) to about 3/8" that appeared to be a dark fuzzy wingless fly with 2 rows of light colored spots on the back also found were 3 larve, also ranging in size from very tiny to the size of a small maggot. I can't say that any of them came from inside the curled leaves but I suspect that's the case.  Any ideas what I'm dealing with and how I can get rid of the problem.  By the way I went out there thinking I would find Aphids but none found. Thanks  Paul in Hat Creek, Ca

after the sun goes down and the tree cools off, mix 2 tablespoons of dawn & 1 qt water and spray it good on & under the leaves.........in the fall start the dorment oil..........again in the spring up to closed bud stage........once the bud is open, I only spray the trunk.  Happy Summer.
