Can you eat black walnuts

I am wondering if you can eat black walnuts that people grow?  Do they have good flavor

Yes........the outer shells have to com off using gloves or your hands with be discolored.........the next shell needs to dry out for some time before the flavor is in the nut............then you can use a vise and break them and pick out the nuts.  Good in cake or cookies.
